    Rising Mains

We're experienced in PE and PVC wastewater rising main construction and offer this capability for sites that do not have enough fall for a gravity sewer system. Old Skool will install, test and commission the rising main in conjunction with the pump station installation to ensure the completed system is fit for purpose. If the site constraints are not suitable for open excavations, we can provide trenchless solutions to ensure existing assets are protected and costs are kept to a minimum.

    Storm Water

Old Skool is a dedicated provider of quality in-ground services throughout Western Australia. We deliver efficient, high-quality stormwater drainage solutions that are valued for money and exceed client expectations with extensive experience in the supply and installation of stormwater drainage.

We offer a full range of stormwater drainage services for any type of project from subdivisions to commercial installations, including:

Water Sensitive Urban Design Installations (WSUD)

WSUD is based on a commitment to sustainability to selectively manage runoff in built-up environments to protect the community, provide amenities and restore waterways and their biotic communities.

WSUD installations include off-line bio-infiltration basins, rain gardens, vegetated swales, retention systems, gross pollutant traps (GPTs) and other treatment devices.

Old Skool is experienced with WSUD installations and construction methods for Western Australian conditions. We can offer product selection recommendations and cost benefits for your next WSUD project.

    On-site detention/retention systems (ecoAID & Stormtech systems)

Stormwater detention systems are utilised when a project site is required to store the volume of stormwater generated from a designed storm event for a short period to reduce peak flow rates with a controlled discharge into stormwater systems or waterways. These systems are usually installed where ground conditions (clay or high groundwater) are not suitable to rely on for infiltration.

Onsite stormwater retention systems are used for sites that have free-draining sands, where stormwater is collected, stored and released into the local environment by natural processes of infiltration, evaporation and evapotranspiration. Retention systems are the solution of choice for most developments in Perth due to the free-draining sands found on the Perth Coastal Plain.

Old Skool is the preferred installer of Geofabric, Australia's ecoAID stormwater management system and has extensive experience with Cubic M3's Stormtech systems to deliver structurally sound, cost and time-effective stormwater solutions for your next project.

    Installation of concrete soak wells

Old Skool has been installing concrete soak wells since our inception in 1998. We take pride in the delivery of quality stormwater installations, to the highest standard of workmanship, with a consistent ability to meet our client's works program and budget requirements.

We offer sound advice and recommendations for product selection to our Clients and Consultants to deliver cost benefits and project success. Old Skool has the experience to ensure the correct application is selected for your next project for performance and longevity.

    Box culverts

Reinforced Concrete Box culverts are the solution of choice for floodways and under roads/railways where there are high flows and low cover.

Old Skool is experienced with box culverts installations and construction methods for Western Australian conditions, from the Perth Metropolitan area through to the Wheatbelt and beyond to the Goldfields, Gascoyne, Pilbara and North West region. Our Logistics team have extensive experience in coordinating these works and procuring the materials, Plant, Equipment and personnel to any location state-wide to meet the project scope.

    Stormwater basins, swales and bio-retention

Stormwater basins, swales and bio-retention systems are important to ensure water quality and quantity requirements are met. In a built environment, the volume of stormwater runoff is generally increased due to all the hard and impervious surfaces, with the runoff often picking up nutrients from landscaped areas, and litter and hydrocarbons from roadways.

Old Skool's experienced team ensure these systems are installed to the highest of standards, with a focus on the protection of community infrastructure and the surrounding environment from flooding and pollutants.

Gross pollutant traps & water quality treatment devices

Gross pollutant traps (GPTs) and other water quality treatment devices are increasingly being required for new developments to comply with Urban Water Management Plan requirements and are integral to water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) principles.

Our skilled team of project managers, supervisors and licenced plumbers are experienced installers of GPTs and other treatment devices and strive to keep up to date with the latest in leading-edge treatment technologies and products.

    Subsoil drainage

Old Skool has installed thousands of metres of subsoil drainage throughout Perth, regional and remote Western Australia for our local government and land development clients.

We have successfully installed subsoil drainage systems to control groundwater in land development sites, sports playing fields, behind retaining walls, to protect building works/foundations and to protect road pavements from wetting and saturation.

Old Skool has the skilled personnel to complete any subsoil drainage installation, from a seemingly complex to a simple installation. We are experienced in coiled Ag drains, slotted PVC, blue metal and geo fabric wraps, including proprietary products such as Megaflo® and Draincoil®.

    Sump conversions

Existing stormwater sumps found in the older areas of Perth are unsightly holes in the ground surrounded by high fences, take up valuable usable space and lack amenities. As usable space in community parks and ovals is now a premium commodity, many local governments are converting these unsightly sumps into green playing spaces for families to enjoy.

Old Skool has completed several sump conversions for local government with large below-ground ecoAID installations to contain the stormwater runoff. These public open spaces have now been transformed into beautiful assets that can be enjoyed by the community.

    Stormwater/rainwater harvesting systems

With decreasing rainfall, drought and water restrictions now commonplace in Western Australia, stormwater and rainwater harvesting systems are increasingly gaining momentum as property owners, developers and local government look to become more environmentally responsible.

The Team at Old Skool are experienced in the construction of underground and above-ground storage systems that harvest stormwater runoff from paved areas and/or rainwater from roofed areas. We have the experience to assist in pump selection and installation so that the harvested water can be reused for irrigation or other purposes.

Stormwater pump stations and pressure mains

Old Skool is experienced in all stormwater pump station works, including the installation of 'pre-packaged' concrete and fibreglass pump stations and custom works to suit project requirements.

An initial site assessment will identify site constraints and provide recommendations for ballast design to ensure the wet wells don't float out of the ground due to groundwater.

Old Skool is experienced in PE and PVC pressure main construction and offers this capability for sites that do not have enough fall for a gravity stormwater system. Old Skool will supply, install, test and commission the pressure main in conjunction with the pump station installation to ensure the completed system is fit for purpose.

If the site constraints are not suitable for open excavations, we can provide trenchless solutions to ensure existing assets are protected and costs are kept to a minimum.
